Greetings!
On behalf of the Madison Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc, I welcome you to our website. We are delighted and excited that you have taken the time to explore our website.
We are a sisterhood of college educated women committed to public service. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 on the campus of Howard University in Washington, D.C., by twenty-two dynamic young women that used their collective strength to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities. The Sorority’s first public act performed involved their participation in the Women's Suffrage March in Washington D.C., on March 3, 1913. (reference: www.deltasigmatheta.org)
The Madison Alumnae Chapter (MAC) was chartered August 27, 1977, by twenty-two visionary women that embarked upon a new and challenging path in their lives as women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. These women used their collective skills to cultivate and educate the diverse community on political, educational, cultural, economical and social spheres. This year we will celebrate thirty-four years of sisterhood, scholarship and service to the Madison, Wisconsin community and we honor those women who made it possible.
Today, the Madison Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. continues to carry the torch that our Founders and Charter Members envisioned by aligning ourselves with the Sorority’s Five Point Programmatic Thrusts:
